Zambia Orphans Aid UK

Zambia Orphans Aid UK (ZOA) is working towards a Zambia in which all orphans, vulnerable children and young people can achieve their potential. We aim to break the cycle of poverty by collaborating with communities to improve access to quality education, whilst providing social and economic support. This is the best way to ensure that deprived orphans, vulnerable children and young people in Zambia have the tools to change their future. ZOA tends to partner with schools who are not funded by the Government of Zambia, but are located in disadvantaged areas and work with children whose basic needs are unmet. ZOA does not partner with orphanages as there is evidence that children have better outcomes when they remain in the care of extended families. Founded by a Zambian woman, ZOA continues to ensure that people with Zambian roots are involved in decision-making across the organisation. Currently 60% of our UK Trustees are British Zambians.
