Zambia Orphans Aid UK (ZOA) is working towards a Zambia in which all orphans, vulnerable children and young people can achieve their potential. We aim to break the cycle of poverty by collaborating with communities to improve access to quality education, whilst providing social and economic support. This is the best way to ensure that deprived orphans, vulnerable children and young people in Zambia have the tools to change their future.

ZOA tends to partner with schools who are not funded by the Government of Zambia, but are located in disadvantaged areas and work with children whose basic needs are unmet. ZOA does not partner with orphanages as there is evidence that children have better outcomes when they remain in the care of extended families.

Founded by a Zambian woman, ZOA continues to ensure that people with Zambian roots are involved in decision-making across the organisation. Currently 60% of our UK Trustees are British Zambians.

Your Impact

Right now 1.2 million orphans and vulnerable children are living in Zambia and don’t have the support or family structure they need to thrive. Many live in granny or child headed households, scraping by on less than £1.50 a day. Without access to school they face a lifetime of poverty.

We provide uniforms, books and tuition fees, fund nutritious school meals, help school leavers gain vocational qualifications, give mental health support to those that need it and provide girls with reusable sanitary pads to keep them in the classroom.

You can help us do whatever it takes to give orphans and vulnerable children the chance to go to school and reach their potential.
