Girls in Sport

Since 2016, we have supported more than 2,000 girls in some of Sierra Leone’s most remote, underserved, and high-risk communities. Many of the girls we work with live with the long-term effects of intergenerational trauma linked to the civil war, the “blood diamond” era, the Ebola crisis, and entrenched extreme poverty. By providing equal access to sport within safe, girl-centred spaces, delivered by trained coaches and positive female role models equipped in safeguarding and psycho-social support, we use sport as a powerful tool for healing, confidence-building, and empowerment. Combined with educational sponsorship and literacy support, this holistic approach enables girls to stay in school, develop resilience and leadership skills, and achieve stronger learning and life outcomes — transforming opportunities in contexts where being born a girl too often determines a lifetime of disadvantage.
