About Down Syndrome UK
Down Syndrome UK is a parent-led charity working hard to challenge outdated stereotypes and raise expectations for individuals with Down syndrome. What sets us apart is our comprehensive training and resources for both parents and professionals, expertly crafted by those with lived experience of Down syndrome. We ensure children with Down syndrome have the best developmental opportunities by equipping the people who support them - from families to educators and healthcare professionals - with evidence-based knowledge and practical strategies, enabling every child to flourish and reach their full potential.
Your Impact
Down Syndrome UK's work reached families and professionals right across the UK. In our last financial year, we supported 104 expectant parents, 877 new parents and over 3,000 parents of preschool and primary-aged children with Down syndrome, while welcoming 69 babies through our pregnancy group. Our Pants4School toilet training programme reached 5,165 families and professionals, and we trained 1,911 healthcare professionals through 89 events. In our latest parent survey, 84% told us they now have a better understanding of Down syndrome, and 76% feel more positive about their child's future. None of this would be possible without our community, whose generosity helped us raise £454,578 this year to continue this work.
