About Albrighton Development Action Group
Albrighton Development Action Group (ADAG) is a grassroots community organisation in Shropshire dedicated to preserving the local Green Belt from speculative overdevelopment. Our primary mission is to protect Albrighton's character and vital infrastructure by formally opposing inappropriate and large-scale housing projects.
Formed in 2015 by residents to campaign against speculative overdevelopment of Green Belt, and brings together years of lived experience of Albrighton residents.
On 29th Feb 2024 Boningale Developments announced proposals for “Albrighton South” - destroying 48 hectares of Green Belt farmland to build 800 homes, a supermarket, drive through, was announced on 29th Feb 2024. This prompted one of the largest levels of objection in Shropshire’s recent history and overwhelming criticism from the Albrighton community, including:
- 3,724 strong petition against the proposals (around 80% of the Albrighton electoral roll)
- 1,127 public objections on the Shropshire Planning portal.
In December 2025 the proposals were recommended for refusal by Shropshire Council planners, and this was unanimously confirmed by Shropshire Council Planning Committee. Boningale Developments have now appealed this decision to the Planning Inspectorate - and Albrighton Development Action Group has gained support to act as an official “Rule 6 Party” in the appeal.
