Steve's 40th - National 3 Peaks (24 hour) Challenge
**Update** - our participant numbers for this event reduced significantly from the time of planning, however the support has been fantastic and has allowed us to revise our target to the original sum we planned when we were a much larger team. Thank you to everyone that has been able to support our team.
I'm turning 40 this year and to mark the milestone I wanted to have another crack at the National 3 Peaks (24 hour) challenge.
Whilst Nick first thought I said "the 3 pub challenge", a number of family members and friends have agreed (some more begrudgingly than others) to join me on the challenge.
Our team of walkers will be supported by a dedicated driving team. It is my hope that we have a few laughs, create some good memories, achieve some personal goals, and raise as much money as we can for three charities that have supported a number of our team members (and their families) at various times.
Starting the challenge at 06:00 on Friday 28th July each walker must complete the three peaks in a total walking time of 13 hours in order to achieve the '24 hour challenge'*.
*With a large team, the use of a minibus and the potential for traffic issues, we have deducted the recommended 11 hours for driving. The driving team will record the time it takes for each walker to complete the challenge.
I wish to thank all the walkers who have made a significant commitment to their own training and fitness in order to participate in the challenge, and our driving team, as without these volunteers we wouldn't be going.
Thank you to Peter Green at 'Home Choice Carpets & Flooring Ltd' and to Nick Powers at 'MJ Fitzpatrick Ltd' who have generously sponsored our minibus.
Thank you to our driving team; David Quinney and Conrad Jones.
Good luck to everyone joining me on the walking team; Sadie Rice, Ben Rice, Matt Rice, Evan Palmer, Laura Noyce, Nick Dudas, Leanne Dudas, Sadie Gane, Wayne Turner, Gemma Dimmock, Leigh Beavon, Michelle McEwan and Martin McEwan.
This is going to be a reasonable challenge at best, but for most of us this will be both; physically and mentally demanding.
Your donations in support of our team and our chosen charities will be greatly appreciated.
