I will be running the Sheffield Half Marathon and the Leeds Full Marathon with the aim of doing something positive to raise money, while having "type 2 fun" along the way.
As many of you know, my wife passed away early last year after battling a very aggressive and hard-to-treat form of breast cancer. She left behind a devastated family, including our 19-month-old son, whom she longed to see grow up.
I will be splitting the funds raised between two charities that were invaluable to us during this difficult time. These are:
Macmillan Cancer Support – They provided financial guidance, which allowed me to leave work and spend my time caring for Sophie and Rowan, while also creating precious memories as a family.
St Peter's Hospice – They were incredible in comforting Sophie during her final weeks and helped preserve her dignity in her last days. They also offered me invaluable emotional support, which has helped me heal and taught me how to support Rowan as he processes his loss as he grows.
Any donation, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated and put to good use.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
