And he is off… 4 Ultras this year supporting those navigating cancer. That's over 314KM to run in just these 4 ultras and over 60,000 feet in elevation gain , that's like running up Everest twice! The training for these 4 ultras will take me through hundreds more miles as I prepare to take each one on.
As a cancer survivor it is important I support those also going through an extremely difficult and emotional time. Cancer redefined my life, it will always be a part of who I am today.
This year I will run 4 tough events raising for two of the most incredible charities. ChemoHero and MacMillan.
I'll kick off the incredible year in April with a 54K run called The Burger Run, more details on that one are available on my website runningwestwardho.co.uk
Then it's
North Downs 50k - July
Tour du Mont Blanc 160K - August
UTMB Mallorca 50 - November
It's going to be a tough year, but I want to keep pushing so I can support those going through cancer.
More about the charities
ChemoHero was established by Lisa Wallis whilst she was going through breast cancer treatment, sadly Lisa lost her battle in 2021 but her memory continues with ChemoHero who gifts Boxes of Kindness at a cancer patients first treatment. Boxes filled with the most thoughtful items to make the journey as comfortable as possible. Receiving a box is a very emotional moment.
And MacMillan who provide expert support to those who are and have navigated cancer including their families. The work MacMillan carry out makes a significant difference at one of the most difficult times.
How your donation makes a difference.
A ChemoHero box costs around £85 to put together, the value of all the items is over £150 and the emotional value of receiving one is unmeasurable. Your donation will ensure more Boxes of Kindness can be gifted to cancer patients at their first treatment.
MacMillan have provided some amazing figures for how your donation will positively impact cancer patients and their families
£10 - can fund 25 copies of the 'Coping with Fatigue' booklet
£24 - can help run the MacMillan local advice service for 1 hour
£34 - could pay for a MacMillan nurse for 1 hour, helping those living with cancer
£67 - could support the MacMillan welfare advisers on the MacMillan Support Line offering vital advice to cancer patients on benefits, grants and tax credits that are available.
£140 - will pay for a MacMillan Support worker for 1 day who helps people living with cancer receive the support they need
So please hit that donate button and together let’s make a massive difference to those who are going through cancer.
Thank you
Andy

Fantastic article from BBC News about my run to Diddly Squat on April 12. Great message about checking for the signs of testicular cancer.
0 likesFriday night was the Surrey Trek and Run Backyard trail event in the beautiful surrey village of Shere. A 3 hour event where you run as many 5K loops as you feel like. It was a great training run. Thank you for all the amazing donations, together we are making a huge difference to those going through cancer. Thank you.
0 likesa true story of how I found my cancer, published this week in the Oxford Mail ahead of my run to Diddly Squat Farm shop, the home of Clarksons Farm.
0 likesI was amazed to see Diddly Squat featured me this weekend in their Instagram story, so kind of them. I am really looking forward to running there on April 12th.
0 likesAs I travel to and from all my 2025 events I will be wearing my new t shirt, it’s designed to spark conversation and hopefully encourage a few donations to the amazing charities I am supporting.
0 likesWe’ve been packing Boxes of Kindness with ChemoHero, each box is gifted to a cancer patient at their first chemotherapy appointment. Filled with incredibly useful and thoughtful items to make a very hard time just a little better. Receiving a box is extremely emotional. Each box costs ChemoHero £85 to put together with the overall value being double this and the emotional value so much higher. With your support we can gift more boxes to cancer patients.
0 likesIt takes a huge amount of commitment training for an ultra, fitting in all the runs into your day and those runs vary from long runs, intervals runs, hill repeats and tempo runs. Getting to the start line takes hundreds of hours of training. Each mile gets me closer and closer to the start of the first event on April 12th.
0 likesApril 12th is the first of the 4 Ultras this year, I will be running a tough 54K from Oxford to Diddly Squat Farm, the home of Clarkson’s Farm. There is a very personal and emotional reason for this run, see all the details on my website - runningwestwardho.co.uk
0 likesIt's going to be a challenging year of ultras, pushing myself it what it's about. Thought each tough mile I'll be supporting those navigating cancer and with your support we can raise vital funds for ChemoHero and MacMillan. I kick the year off on April 12th with a 54K self-designed ultra starting from Oxford Station. More details to come soon on this one.
