Being in hospital as an adult is worrying enough. So for children like my friend Adrian's Grandson, Zac, it must be very scary.
Thanks to all the hospital staff at GOSH and charities like Camp Simcha these brave young people and their families have amazing care and support.
For me, this walk marks the end of my recovery from heart surgery and it's a way of saying 'thank you' to all those amazing selfless people in the hospitals who take care of us when we are at our most vulnerable.
Great Ormond Street Hospital, a beacon of care and healing, continues to provide life-saving treatment for children battling serious illness, while bringing comfort and strength to families in need. For GOSH, the money will be put towards providing more living accommodation for the children's parents. To allow them to be on the doorstep of the hospital, meaning they can visit their children at any time of the day. The accommodation is just as important as buying a piece of equipment.
Camp Simcha, a place of joy and respite, gives children with serious medical conditions the chance to experience unforgettable moments of happiness, creating memories that will last a lifetime. For Camp Simcha, the money will be put towards providing a Retreat to give families with seriously ill children a precious few days away together, full of fun and relaxation in beautiful surroundings, with all their medical needs catered for.
Together we hope to raise a combined total of £300,000 which will be split equally between both charities so that they can continue their wonderful work.
