Atlantic Highway - World’s Toughest Row 2025

Friday 12th December 2025
In December 2025, we will be taking part in the ‘World’s Toughest Row’ as the only female pair.
We will row 3000 nautical miles of hot, fierce & diverse Atlantic ocean, racing from the volcanic shores of San Sebastian de La Gomera, Spain to paradise in Nelson’s Dockyard, unsupported.
Battling huge 40ft waves, from freezing to scorching, with cramped sleeping quarters and the knowledge that the next rowing shift is due almost before we’ve had a chance to rest.
To show the scale of the challenge as a fully female crew, 58 all-female crews have successfully rowed the Atlantic from east to west, compared to 471 all-male crews.
But we are ready.
Why are we doing this?
We want to test our physical bodies
Jess is fearless. Testing mind over matter from skydiving to speed flying. Beth is endurance. Pushing her body in long distance running, rowing, hiking. Together we are a good team.
We want to beat the world record
Lisa Roland and Lauren Champion beat the previous record this year (2024), setting a new record of 45 days, 1 hour, 27 minutes. For this years race, we are the only female pair taking part. As previously competitive river rowers, we not only want to aim for a record in the female pairs, but we also want to take on both the mixed and men's within our category, something that we believe is completely achievable as bad weather won't affect inter-race competition.
We want to raise awareness
We want to raise awareness of physical, mental and environmental wellness. We are working with The Wave Project, a charity dedicated to improving the mental health and wellbeing of young people through physical movement and the power of surf therapy and as Beth works heavily within the environmental space, we are working towards identifying a second charity or research project focused on environmental wellness.
