David, Laura and Zack's Run the Runway
Thank you for visiting our page. We decided to do a joint fundraising page as so many who will hopefully donate will know us both.
We have spoken about doing a run for charity for years and this is us finally doing it.
LAURA
For those of you who know me you will know I've ran on and off over the years. I've mainly had to stop as it leaves me too fatigued.
Since I've now got less commitments and have more recovery time I've realised I don't have an excuse anymore. (But it might be my first and only run)
I would have loved to have done a 10k, but since the first day of training wiped me out for 2 days it will be a 5k this time.
Plus someone needs to stay with Zack. (And that's the excuse I'm sticking to)
DAVID
If you know me, you'll know I'm not a sporty person, and would rather stay warm indoors (or in the pub) than drag myself out for a run. That being said, Laura and I have spoken for years about encouraging each other to do a distance run... Which is something we've managed to talk ourselves out of every time - until now.
Although there has been plenty of setbacks over the years, we're now both in a position where we can give it a go, and with Zack there, it will be all the better
ZACK
Zack participates in all the running events at school and at first wasn't going to do this run with us. (It was too early to get up on a Saturday apparently)
But as it's got closer he really wants to join us. Or maybe he just wanted to get new running shoes. I'm sure Zack will be at the finish line while we are just starting.
INFORMATION ABOUT THE RUN FROM THE ORGANISERS
Welcome to Run the Runway charity event! Join us on Saturday the 02 November 2024 for a unique and exciting opportunity to run on the runway at Glasgow Prestwick Airport. This event is not just about running, it’s about making a difference. You have the option to run or walk 5K, or run 10K.
We are proud to support three incredible cancer related charities through this event – The Beatson, Doing it for Daniel Foundation and Ayrshire Hospice. These charities hold a special place in our hearts, as we have sadly lost colleagues to cancer and have current staff members who are bravely battling the disease. Beyond our immediate community, we know that cancer touches the lives of so many people, affecting friends, families, and colleagues across the nation and that’s why we want to help make a difference.
