FREYA'S CHARITY WALKATHON
Hey everyone!
I've wanted to organise a charity event for a while but wasn't sure what to do. I've decided to host a WALKATHON, where we'll walk the distance of a marathon (26 miles). This is a new challenge for me, as well as for most people around me.
I am organising this charity event to raise funds for St. David's Hospice, Conwy Mind, Cancer Research UK, and Parkinson's UK. These causes are incredibly meaningful:
St. David's Hospice: A local charity that holds a special place in my heart, having provided compassionate care for my grandad in his final days, as well as many others close to me.
Parkinson's UK and Cancer Research UK: Both of these causes resonate deeply with those around me, making them truly important organisations to support.
Conwy Mind: A vital local charity that deserves our support and awareness. Mental health issues take too many lives too soon, and this event is a way for us to come together to combat this illness. Let this also be a reminder to check in on those around you. You never know who might need your help and support. Encouragement can make a difference and help someone through a tough time.
Our WALKATHON will take us from Llandudno Pier to Towyn and back to Llandudno Pier, covering the full marathon distance. After completing the walk, we'll celebrate our achievements with a well-deserved drink at a local pub (to be confirmed).
Previously, I walked 17 miles to Rhyl for Conwy Mind, which was tough! So, taking on this new challenge of walking 26 miles to raise money for these four amazing charities will be incredible and demanding.
I am asking for as many people as possible to join me on this challenge. There is no pressure to stay for the entire journey. However, making even a small effort to join will make a big difference.
The walk will commence at 10 a.m. from Llandudno Pier. Please aim to arrive 15 minutes early so we can all start together. We aim to return to Llandudno by approx 7/8 p.m. to head to the pub… whoop!
