Jirka, Mark, Dan and I are attempting the coast to coast across the top of England. Starting at St Bees, we cross the many hills in our path to reach the East coast. In total we will be cycling in excess of 140 miles and it's a tough ride.
We have chosen these 2 charities because they are so close to our hearts. We have all lost friends to Prostate Cancer and it's these people that we ride in memory of. We also amazingly know some that have been treated and cured. Without Prostate Cancer charity the numbers cured would be so much lower. But sadly we all know someone affected right now by cancer and those that have died because of it.
We have chosen The Royal Marsden Charity because it's the pinnacle of cancer treatment in the UK and without their charity donations they can't continue leading the way in their pioneering treatments of cancer. Someone somewhere you know will have been to the Marsden for cancer treatment.
Our very good friend Raymond Nicholson is Advanced Nurse Practitioner in Urology at the Marsden and we are all so proud of him and the work he does in helping so many cancer patients in a year. We wanted to do something to recognise the wonderful work him and all his colleagues do.
This is a very hard challenge, 2 of us don't cycle regularly, so if you can spare a few pennies to help these worthy causes and he recognise what wonderful work the Prostate cancer charity does and our wonderful doctors, nurses and research staff at the Royal Marsden.
