Ultra White Collar Boxing - Charity Match for Alder Hey Children's Hospital and the Erb's Palsy Group
Thank you for taking the time to visit my GiveWheel page.
WHAT AM I DOING?
As of about a month ago, I had never donned boxing gloves, done any formal boxing lessons, or even watched a boxing match all the way through (unless you count Rocky 1 and 2). But now, I am spending every spare minute training in this ancient art. "And why?!" you may well ask...
Well, the reason is that on Saturday July 13th, 2024, I will be partaking in an amateur "white collar" boxing match in Liverpool in aid of two charities - Alder Hey Children's Hospital and the Erb's Palsy Group.
TELL ME ABOUT ALDER HEY CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL
I work as a surgeon at Alder Hey (https://www.alderhey.nhs.uk/), and let me tell you it is the most amazing hospital in which I have ever worked. All the staff - from managers to doctors to radiographers to porters to nurses - are dedicated to one thing, helping children and their families in their hour of need.
So if you want to help us help them, please donate through my GiveWheel page.
TELL ME ABOUT ERB'S PALSY
One of the conditions which I operate on children for is a paralysis of the arm that babies are born with after traumatic deliveries. It's called Erb's Palsy. While a full recovery may occur, sometimes the children may be permanently disabled. The Erb's Palsy Group (https://www.erbspalsygroup.org.uk/) is a charitable organisation that works nationwide to support these children, and their families, as they live with this potentially debilitating condition.
