Kate's Meal Appeal
Kate's Meal Appeal: a new fundraising campaign from Kate Bolton and Comms for Good.
Kate’s Meal Appeal is raising funds for charities that help tackle food waste, improve food education and nourish hungry communities.
Rising fuel costs, inflation and the impact of the war in Ukraine mean many more people in the UK are going without hot, wholesome dinners. Meanwhile finding sustainable solutions to tackling food waste and improving food education is a complex issue that requires collaboration. Through Kate’s Meal Appeal, Comms for Good hopes the fintech world will join forces again to support – through donations, by taking part and by spreading the word – the charities that work to solve these issues.
Funds raised will be split between the following three small charities:
UKHarvest – is on a mission to eliminate hunger and reduce food waste through the redistribution of quality surplus food and education. This charity collects unwanted food from supermarkets, hotels, restaurants etc, and distributes it to other charities. Its community kitchen, Nourish Hub, serves meals to paying and non-paying customers and hosts community events.
FoodCycle – is bringing together local communities in kitchens across the country. Their vision is to make food poverty, loneliness and food waste a thing of the past. People from all walks of life are encouraged to come and meet, chat and eat meals made from surplus ingredients.
Chefs in Schools – is fuelling the future by transforming school food and food education. A programme run by professional chefs trains school kitchen staff to cook sustainable meals from scratch and teaches children about food.
