Shipmates from HMS EAGLET run Liverpool Half-Marathon
3160
On 23 March 2025, a Team from HMS Eaglet - the Royal Navy Reserve unit based in Liverpool - will complete the Liverpool Half-Marathon to raise funds for two charities: the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) and Tom Harrison House, a specialist recovery charity in Liverpool for UK Armed Forces veterans and Emergency Services personnel.
This page will be updated with regular reports from our Team Members as we prepare to take part in this community event. We are especially looking forward to running past HMS EAGLET (located around the 18km point) with a proud 'Eyes Right' before we complete the race at the city's iconic Royal Liver Building.
We would like to thank you for all your support and generosity.

Tom Harrison House provides a specialist addiction recovery programme for UK Armed Forces veterans and emergency services personnel. Our bespoke 12-week residential programme is designed specifically for those who have served and who may struggle to engage with mainstream, civilian rehabilitation services.

Beneficiaries lie at the heart of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity's purpose, it is our duty to remain focused on their needs. Since 2007, we have funded projects and facilities that boost morale for those who serve today. We also distribute millions of pounds annually to military charities which care for the children, families and veterans of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines.

We have promoted awareness of recovery pathways to the Armed Forces Community as we came together to #SmashTheStigma. We are so grateful for all the generous support we have received. Please could you help us raise our total even more? Perhaps you can be the person to tip us to £5k? Or perhaps you can be the one who takes us to £5.5K? Or even higher? The Team spent months in training and needless to say, we are all buzzing. All our Eaglets got over the line safely and have a real sense of achievement and unbreakable team cohesion. Mission Accomplished. We would like to thank you for all your support and generosity. Thanks for reading. Thanks for supporting. Thanks for doing your part to #SmashTheStigma. Onwards. Upwards.

0 likesIntroducing more of our amazing team! Meet Leading Seaman Aaron Boileau, a key figure in the Junior Rates Mess whose drive and enthusiasm was deservedly recognised by the prestigious award of the Lord-Lieutenant of Merseyside's Certificate for Meritorious Service to the Reserve Forces. This will be Aaron's first half marathon. Welcome to Lieutenants Nick Hargreaves and Phil Dowson-Smith. Nick is an ultra marathon runner who has raised thousands for the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity and helped inspire countless folk into stretching their mindset and making possible what they thought was physically impossible. Phil is a qualified Royal Navy triathlon coach who has competed at the highest level (Iron Man World Championships). Welcome to Sub-Lieutenant Joshua Boissery and AB Nathan Ruane, who are competing in their first half-marathon. Joshua and Nathan previously joined us for the Birchwood 10k event where EAGLET has entered a team for the last three consecutive years. The 10k has been the first competitive event for several Eaglets as we have encouraged them to embrace the physical challenge and achieve this special milestone. And welcome to Officer Cadet Pippa Rielly who signed up to the challenge last year. Pippa has dedicated countless hours to training for the event - either out on the road training or hitting the gym. Outside EAGLET, she is also a volunteer with the Sea Cadet Corps and she plays her part to inspire the next generation of the Naval Family. Team EAGLET is represented across the ranks and rates, across all the Messes and across a vast array of different experiences. We are united in our wish to come together to not just fundraise but to #SmashTheStigma of addiction recovery. Thank you for supporting us in this journey. We have just under three weeks until we set to task at the start of the half-marathon at Liverpool's iconic Liver Building. Onwards. Upwards.
0 likesThe Commanding Officer of HMS EAGLET, Cdr Judith Barnes, visited Tom Harrison House on 4 Mar 25 to see at first hand the incredible work the charity does to help Service Personnel and Veterans onto the pathway of recovery. To symbolise the ever-closer and ever-stronger bond between EAGLET and Tom Harrison House, she presented the charity with an HMS EAGLET crest during her visit. We look forward to returning to Tom Harrison House in the near term to present a cheque, thanks to your wonderfully kind sponsorship donations. Running the Liverpool Half-Marathon on 23 Mar will be one of Cdr Barnes' final acts before she hands over Command of EAGLET in early April and retires from the Naval Service shortly afterwards following 31 years of selfless service in uniform. Along with her Ship's Company who are running in Team EAGLET, she is continuing her training as she leads by example. Thank you for everyone who has supported us on our journey. We are so very thankful for your donations as we unite to be a beacon of hope and #SmashTheStigma Onwards. Upwards.
0 likesMeet Chief Petty Officer Lee Nixon (pictured) one of EAGLET's submariners and a keen runner. Lee set up a closed-running group online so we can all support each other and egg each other on every week as we crank up the training kilometres. Team EAGLET is made up of experienced and new runners. We have representatives from all the messes, multiple specialisations and a rich array of diverse Service backgrounds. As diverse as our Service histories are, we are united in our goal to #SmashTheStigma of addiction recovery (especially in the UK Armed Forces) and we are therefore delighted to shine a light on the support available through outstanding charities such as Tom Harrison House and the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC). Remember, some people just need help but are afraid and ashamed to ask. There is no shame at all and the heaviest thing you have to lift is your hand. Onwards. Upwards!
0 likesThank you for the generous donations which are so gratefully received. We are keen to keep progressing our fundraising effort and are delighted to have the support of The Rt Hon Maria Eagle MP (MP for Liverpool Garston and Minister for Defence Procurement and Industry), Rear Admiral Jude Terry CB OBE - the Royal Navy's Director of People and Training, as well as the Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Richard Kemp CBE. Our training has continued apace with Eaglets taking part in individual training and group events. Many thanks to RNRMC for providing us with running tops which we wear with pride. Meet Leading Hand Stevie Haig (pictured) who is part of Team EAGLET. Stevie serves as President of the Junior Rates' Mess and is inspiring his fellow messmates to join in with the race. We are delighted to have representatives from all three messes (Junior Rates, Warrant Officers & Senior Rates and Wardroom) ranging in rank from Able Seaman to Commodore.
