Cycling the Chalkway for Minnie
At 0930 on Saturday 22nd June 2024 a group of us will be meeting at Tisbury station in Wiltshire and will set off to cycling the Chalkway over two days, arriving at Lyme Regis for pizza and bubbles mid afternoon on Sunday 23rd June.
We are raising money for three charities that supported our daughter Minnie while she was in NICU at St Mary's Paddington and Queen Charlotte's Hospital in London in 2022 and us as a family since she died.
Minnie Le Breton was born on 10th March 2022 and spent 19 days critically ill in neo-natal intensive care units at St Mary's and QCCH. There she received state of the art care and support before she tragically left us; her body and spirit had fought hard, her health challenges were too great and had gone on too long.
The main charity that we are raising funds for is Cosmic Charity (merged with the Winnicott Foundation). This amazing organisation, set up by parents and doctors of premature babies, provides a myriad of equipment, training and support to NICU and PICU at St Mary's and QCGH. They purchase what the NHS cannot afford, providing vital state of the art equipment, training for health professionals and funding groundbreaking research into life-threatening diseases.
We are aiming to raise £36,000 for Cosmic to cover the cost of an incubator for NICU babies who are literally kept alive by these incredible machines.
The other two charities to whom we are so grateful and also raising funds for are Petals and Teddy's Wish. Petals provides free counselling for bereaved parents who have suffered different forms of baby loss and we were lucky to have received counselling together following Minnie's death. Teddy's Wish raises money to fund research into infant death and provides care packages for parents who have suffered baby loss which we were grateful beneficiaries of.
