Mersea Island Music Marathon - Mersea Island Folk Club - 16.00
Hi Everyone,
It's John and Barry here.
We are delighted to be performing on behalf of the Mersea Island Folk Club in the line up for Mersea Island's second Music Marathon, this time at our very own home - The Mersea Island Community Association (MICA).
Playing our usual Accordion and Guitar, with John on vocals, we will be offering 30 minutes of assorted popular songs.
With MICA being an invaluable asset to the island, we are proud to be raising money for the community centre, with 100% of the proceeds we raise being donated directly to MICA and their new sound system.
Join us on SATURDAY 18TH MAY at 4pm !
You can read more about the event below.
.......................
A non stop music marathon lasting 26 hours and 20 mins. Starting at 1940 on Friday 17th May and finishing with a big party set on Saturday 18th May
This amazing community event was first run in 2018 and raised over £23K on the day with other supporting events pushing the total nearer to £30K. Over 400 people took part to perform and help run the event. It was amazing!
The idea is for participants to play non-stop music or 30 minutes and in doing so keep a relay of live music going throughout the marathon. Money raised will be split 50:50 between our primary charity, the Mersea Island Community Association (MICA) and the participants own choice of charity.
MICA is a fantastic facility run by volunteers and a small management team at the heart of the community located in West Mersea on a small island off the coast of Essex. We are hoping to raise enough money to help install a much needed sound system into the main hall of the centre. This will help improve all events and shows that come to the MICA and will help attract more people to use the centre.
A true community event, volunteers have been flocking in to help support the event with offers of cooking, catering, working on the day, and helping behind the scenes to make it all run smoothly.
We are hoping that this feel good event will not only help raise money for many charities but will also shed some light, fun and diverse music for everyone to enjoy.
Support those you know who are performing and come down on the day to enjoy the event with us all.
