Bridgnorth Rugby Club

Bridgnorth Rugby Club (BRFC) is a registered charity, whose primary purpose is the promotion of rugby football union throughout our local community. We currently provide our facilities and services to around 420 rugby players from 5 years of age up to 70. BRFC also offers its services and facilities to other sports clubs & hobby groups beyond rugby such as The Canoe Club, Boot Campers, Pilates Groups, U3A, Kids' Club, Crucial Crew, 2 Quiz teams and a Dominoes team.

BRFC first set up in 1962, moving to its previous clubhouse in Bridge St in the 70s.
We are now needing to fund raise to finance the build cost of a new Club House, estimated to cost close to £2.0 million, because we have out grown our existing facilities, which are no longer fit for purpose and nor do they comply with RFU minimum standards for the size and volume of changing rooms.

Our new Club House will be offered for use to everyone within our local community, although on match days, it will be used by our players. Indeed, our existing facilities are already used by other sports & hobby clubs, although the new Club House will provide a much better environment for everyone.

The new Club House will provide changing facilities, a meeting room, a function suite, to cater for around 170 guests, a fully equipped catering kitchen and a fully licensed bar, all of which will attract more participants to Rugby, as well as to other sports and hobby clubs.

With your help we want to provide a valuable asset for the club, the town and the local community.

We have outgrown our facilities and play at a high level of rugby. Having our clubhouse and pitches on separate sites causes lots of operational issues on match days.

We also have problems with flooding from the River Severn. This has significantly impacted us financially over recent seasons as our facilities have flooded (5 times in the last 4 years) and stock & equipment has been damaged and/or washed away.

How we will spend the money raised:
The origional Club House (The Bull on Bridge Street) has been sold and the funds have helped to partly pay for the construction costs of the new Club House, but we still need more than £1.5 million.

The money raised will go towards building the clubhouse and making it a community centre available to all.

It will pay for the much needed modern facilities, built on stilts to prevent damage from further flooding, with changing rooms, a fully equipped catering kitchen, large licensed bar servery, large function suite and a meeting room.

We also need to remove the existing buildings on the site which will enable more parking availablity and improve the green belt aspect.

Because the clubhouse will be built on stilts due to the flood risk it will improve the flood egress.

Work on the new Club House started in August 2022 and we are hopeful the works will be completed in time for the new Club House to be operational from early 2024.
