Remembering Alice

Over the past five years, many charities have provided incredible support to Alice and our family, and we will always be deeply grateful.

Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service gave Alice a sense of independence and joy. Whether it was visits from her wonderful nursing team, special holidays, celebrating important occasions safely, swimming, or enjoying physiotherapy combined with music sessions, it became a true lifeline in her day-to-day life. These were moments she looked forward to so much.

Ronald McDonald House offered Paul and Jo a real “home from home,” allowing us to stay close and support Alice during long hospital stays—we were there for over a year of her life. The team became like family. Alice loved spending time in the playroom and seeing the reception transformed with different themes throughout the year. More recently, it also made it possible for Chloe to be nearby. Without this support, our experience as a family would have been far more difficult.

Helen & Douglas House gave Alice another opportunity to enjoy social activities and holidays in a safe and supportive environment. They also provided compassionate end-of-life care when Alice was just six months old—when she defied the odds and recovered—and, more recently, they have given Paul and Jo a safe space to visit Alice after her passing and provided incredible support

These charities do extraordinary work supporting children like Alice and their families through the most challenging times, especially when they are needed most. However, they rely heavily on donations to continue offering these vital services. Without sufficient funding, many families may not receive the care and comfort they urgently need.
