Nicky Can't Run
Running is not something that I have ever been able to do. I don't have the lungs for it. I don't have the fitness or legs for it. Suffering from Ehlers Danlos Hypermobile Type, a connective tissue disorder, running isn't something that is particularly recommended for me, given it is high impact.
Yet Daniel has signed us both up to run the Aberdeen Runway Run (3.5k) on September 3rd 2022. So I have a month to start running. It won't be quick, it probably won't be at all pretty but I will do it because it is for three great causes.
I will run, hobble and walk my way across the length of Aberdeen's runway in the early hours of the morning to help raise money to empower children who have additional support needs (We Too). I will drag myself across that finish line to support families of children with terminal illnesses (Kayleigh's Wee Stars), to give them the means to take time to create memories and be there with their child when it matters most. Despite the fact I hate running with a passion, I will try it this once to help Friends of Anchor continue to provide the best possible care and support to those with cancer in the North-east of Scotland.
I have always said that I can't run. Hopefully I can prove myself wrong. 3.5k is not far and does not seem difficult but as someone who need a lie down after running for more than a minute this will be a challenge for me.
Having support will mean the world to me and will encourage me to keep going when otherwise I would probably be tempted to give up. These are three brilliant causes so anything you can give will be making a real difference.
And whilst you are here, why not support Daniel in his journey too (at https://www.givewheel.com/fundraising/129/dyce-ing-with-danger-a-plane-stupid-idea/). We both need all the encouragement we can get!
Thanks in advance and wish me luck for the day!
