Basingstoke 10k 2023 (Company)
Nomios UK&I employees will be running the Basingstoke 10K on October 1st in support of a number of charities.
Team members have nominated causes for fantastic reasons. Donations will be split equally between the following:
Diabetes UK
Diabetes is a serious condition where your blood glucose level is too high. It can happen when your body doesn’t produce enough insulin or the insulin it produces isn’t effective. Or when your body can’t produce any insulin at all.
We were sorry to hear that Chloe lost a school friend from Type 1 diabetes before his sixteenth birthday. She has nominated Diabetes UK for our fundraiser, as the charity campaigns for improving the care and treatment of people with diabetes.
Firefighter’s Charity
Firefighter’s Charity is an organisation close to Robyn, as her partner, is part of Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue. The charity ensures firefighters and their families can easily access information and advice to help them lead healthy and happy lives. This includes helping with mental health, physical health, social needs, and general well-being.
Luke will be running the Basingstoke 10K in his full fire kit - even including his oxygen tank!!
Parkinson's UK
Parkinson’s Disease is a condition where parts of the brain become progressively damaged over many years, caused by a loss of nerve cells in the substantia nigra, which reduces the amount of a chemical called dopamine in the brain.
Hannah’s dad, Robert 'Bob', was diagnosed with Parkinson's at aged 51. While the symptoms began as mild, unfortunately, Bob's condition deteriorated and had to move to Residential Care in 2018. Bob sadly passed away in 2019 after suffering for twenty years with Parkinson's. There is currently no cure for the disease, but Parkinson's UK is working towards understanding how Parkinson's' starts to potentially slow future effects.
Nomios will contribute towards the fundraiser following the completion of the 10K.
