Duncan and Alan's 100 Holes of Golf in One Day
Duncan and Alan will be playing 100 holes of golf in one day at Bath Golf Club. Along with hundreds of shots we will walk over 55km in under 18 hours.
We will be supporting 3 charities.
Alan lost his wife to cancer 7 years ago and in the last couple of years we have witnessed a close friend and the teenage daughter of another good friend be struck by this often indiscriminate disease. Research into the illness is key to improving outcomes so we are pleased to support Cancer Research.
Alan’s wife, Amanda, was supported in palliative care by Dorothy House, a local charity supporting those with life limiting illnesses. We are very pleased to support Dorothy House in our fundraising efforts.
Finally, we are very grateful to Bath Golf Club for their support and cooperation in our endeavour and are delighted to support the Club’s nominated charity for the current year, Friends of Young Carers, a local charity aiming to support youngsters who find themselves cast in the role of carer.
Dorothy House - https://www.dorothyhouse.org.uk/
Dorothy House is a local charity set up to provide compassionate care and support for people in our community with a life-limiting illness. Their focus is on quality of life, helping patients to live well and die well. Through ten locally-focused Dorothy House care teams, they help people prepare for the end of their lives and equip more people to provide the care each of us deserves.
Cancer Research - https://www.cancerresearchuk.org/
Cancer Research UK was formed 20 years ago, in 2002. However, its history goes back much further, to 1902, with the founding of the Imperial Cancer Research Fund. Thanks to supporters like you, our pioneering work into how to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer has benefitted millions of lives over the past 120 years.
Over the last 40 years, cancer survival in the UK has doubled. In the 1970s just 1 in 4 people survived their disease for 10 years or more. Today 2 in 4 survive. The ambition is to accelerate progress and see 3 in 4 patients surviving the disease by 2034.
Friends of Young Carers - https://foyc.org.uk/
This is Bath Golf Club’s nominated charity for the current year. FoYC is a charity formed in 2007 to raise awareness of the issues faced by young carers locally, to provide fundraising support to the Young Carers Service and to monitor the expenditure of those funds by working closely with the Young Carers Development Worker. The money raised is not intended to replace existing provision, or services which are the responsibility of statutory agencies.
The charity does not have to rent offices or pay staff, and with a Committee who are all volunteers, this means the impact of all donations received is maximised.

I want to sponsor you 10p per shot, so this is my best guess at what you're going to score - average 6 shots per hole over 100 holes...
Make sure you always putt out... No gimmes!
