Charlie House was founded in 2011 with the mission to improve the quality of life for babies, children and young people with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition across the North-East of Scotland, alongside providing support to them and their families.
In the North-East of Scotland, there are approximately 1,800 babies, children and young people living with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition. At present, these families need to travel more than 100 miles to get crucial support, respite and care when they need it, which we think is unacceptable.
This is why we launched our Big Build Appeal, with the goal of raising £8 Million to build a specialist care facility for children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, right here in the North-East of Scotland.
We believe that every child should receive a smooth transition from hospital to home; practical and emotional support for themselves and their family; access to inclusive activities; help to live life to the full; as well as opportunities to make memories for the whole family to treasure. We do this through offering a wide range of free services, including:
- The provision of practical and emotional support, both at home and in the community;
- Our accessible and inclusive activities, which are suitable for the whole family;
- Our annual activity short-stay break;
