I have decided to challenge myself to do Wainwright's Coast to Coast walk from St Bees on the west coast to Robin Hood's Bay on the east coast. This 192 mile walk will take me through three national parks including the beautiful Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and North Yorkshire Moors. The walk starts on the 27th August and finishes in Robin Hood's Bay on the 10th September, my 60th birthday.
I wasn't particularly doing this as a charity walk, however, as a few people have asked, I have chosen to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK and the Alzheimer Society, mainly because family and close friends have been affected by both of these illnesses in the last year.
There is no target figure to reach and whatever is raised will be split equally between the two charities.
I am aware that we are all asked to donate to worthy causes regularly throughout the year so thank you very much if you are able to give a little.
