I'm Rebecca and I am a runner in the lake district. One of the my great loves in life is being out in the fells with my black lab, Bongo.
Last year I accomplished a running goal of mine of 50 miles and since then I have been contemplating 100 miles. So, in a few weeks time I will be attempting to complete 100 miles, in one go. My route will start near Ireby and from there I will run to Keswick then on to do all of the northern fells.
In a time where there is much going on in the world which can be very overwhelming, I want to use my ability to run to raise some money for charity.
The first charity is The Palestine Children's Relief Fund. The situation in Palestine is devastating and brutal. We cannot look away from their suffering, we have to take action however we can. I am so grateful to have had a childhood raised in a safe, loving home with freedom to play, to be a child, to not know hunger or fear. The children in Gaza do not have this. I do not need to go into details, we have all seen on various platforms what is happening to these children and its heartbreaking to witness.
My second charity, is Oak Tree Animal Rescue. I absolutely adore animals and I have been brought up with dogs my whole life. They are one of the best companions you could ever have and in turn they deserve the best care possible. This charity ensures that these animals are provided with care and comfort before hopefully finding their permanent home. Local, small Charities like this rely on people's generosity to keep going.
I aim to carry out this challenge on the 29th August, weather dependant! If anyone would like to come cover some ground with me or show up on route to say hello and throw me a chocolate bar, you are most welcome to do so! Any morale boost will be much appreciated as it's going to be a very difficult challenge for me. I will post updates on my Instagram on the day and update on this page after completing the challenge! A huge thanks for each donation received ❤
