This October, I’ll be walking 39 miles around the beautiful coast of Guernsey with my grandparents - and anyone else brave enough to join us! It’s a full island loop with plenty of fresh air, plenty of tea stops, and a big reason behind it. We’re raising money for five amazing Dorset-based charities that support causes really close to our hearts.
Guernsey isn’t just a pretty backdrop - it’s somewhere really special to my grandparents, full of memories and family milestones. Taking on this challenge there makes it feel even more meaningful.
There’s also some lovely history behind it. Around 18 years ago, my Nanny, Anne Clayton, helped lead a group from Guernsey to climb Kilimanjaro, raising awareness of ovarian cancer while working at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital. So this walk feels like our way of carrying that torch forward - just at sea level this time!
My grandad loves walking, exploring new places, and snapping great photos along the way – so this challenge couldn’t be more up his street. I’m looking forward to the views, the fresh air, and maybe picking up a few photography tips from him.
I’m also doing this as part of Foray Motor Group’s Strive for 25 campaign - we’re celebrating 25 years in business by trying to raise £25,000 for charity. This walk is my way of getting involved and helping push us closer to that goal.
The charities we’re supporting are all based in Dorset (where the ferry from Guernsey goes), so it’s a lovely way to give back to the communities on both sides of the sea.
