Anna's Mongol Derby

You may have thought I had had enough of these events. However, in August, I will be competing in another endurance horse race called the ‘Mongol Derby'. This time I am riding 1000km across Mongolia following the footsteps of Genghis Khan and it will take 10 days; I will be very pleased if I even complete it. You can track me on the website (if you are bored out of your brains), my Dad will also be running a very active WhatsApp Group and you could also follow the instagram account (mongolderby).

I am raising money for two charities. First, Pancreatic Cancer UK. Ollie's amazing Mum Camilla was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in November 2018. It is the 5th biggest cancer killer with statistically, 50% of people not surviving beyond 3 months of diagnosis. However, nearly 7 years later, Camilla is still living her best life. PCUK have offered Camilla invaluable advice and support during this time and any money I raise will help other people like Camilla as well as funding research targeting earlier diagnosis and increasing survival rates.

Secondly, Place2Be, a children’s mental health charity that places councillors in schools. As a teacher, I have experienced the amazing impact these councillors have on children's lives. On top of multiple children having very tough upbringings, social media has destroyed resilience and self confidence in young people. As children find it very hard to communicate their feelings at the best of times, the place2be councillors are able to listen and teach pupils how to articulate their feelings. This makes them not only feel better but also enjoy school more.
