Charity Coast to Coast (C2C) Cycle Ride

In 2010 I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. On a rare day where I was not at work and by pure chance, was watching the ‘Lorraine Show’, I was saddened to see a well known actress from Corrie, Sally Dynevor, (Sally Webster) being interviewed about her recent diagnosis of breast cancer. Despite having been through chemotherapy and her wearing a head scarf due to her hair loss, I was struck by how positive she was. She said…”all ladies over 40 should check themselves for lumps, bumps, puckering…” etc. This struck a chord as I had just celebrated my 40th the previous month. I did as she said. You can imagine the shock when I found what would turn out to be a significant cancerous tumour. Radical treatment followed and I’m now 15 years into my wellbeing journey, helped massively by the support received whilst having my post operative convalescence, chemo and radiotherapy by The Police Treatment Centre at Harrogate. Both places turned out to be life savers and I’m indebted to them both. I was involved in fundraising for these causes before 2010 but since diagnosis, I try to do something each year to raise funds for them. To mark my 15 year anniversary I am riding the C2C with colleagues and friends and I would really appreciate all donations which will help them continue their excellent work and support more people who find themselves in a similar position to me. Please urge everyone to check themselves - men can also be affected. Thank you in anticipation, Andrea and crew x
