150 mile charity run

I’m planning on running 150 miles (30 per day) covering every east coast fire station in Lincolnshire starting at Kirton and finishing at Louth. This is to raise money for two charities both close to my heart.

Let me share a bit about the first charity Lilys rainbow fund written by her mum Emily.

Lily Harley was a local girl who sadly lost her life to brain cancer in 2023 at just 4 years old. Lily was diagnosed in January 2022 at 2 years old and underwent x3 brain surgeries, 33 rounds of proton beam therapy and 15 weeks of chemotherapy. Lily got the all clear in October 2022, but sadly a routine scan in January 2023 showed that Lily had relapsed and was now terminally ill. Lily sadly lost her life in March 2023. Lily lived a colourful, happy life which left a positive mark on many lives and will forever be remembered by our local community.

In 2023, Louth Fire met Lily and did a brew with the crew to raise money for her to go to Disneyland Paris. Her mum, Emily, who now works at Louth Ambulance Station, set up Lily’s Rainbow Fund in Lily’s memory as a way to honour her name whilst raising money for children affected by brain tumours and their families. The money raised goes towards vital research into paediatric brain tumours, as well as going towards supporting children and their families.

The second charity is the firefighters charity which supports those both in active duty and those retired alongside their families in a number of ways including those injured or recovering from illness.
