Ordinary bloke running for extraordinary causes
On May the 14th 2023 I will be taking on the Leeds Marathon. The reason this ordinary bloke is taking on this event is to offer some support to a couple of extraordinary causes at the local and national level.
The first is the Motor Neuron Disease Association which offers vital help to people like Leeds Rhinos legend Rob Burrow following his diagnosis in 2019 and has been so inspirationally supported by his former teammate Kevin Sinfield on many gruelling endurance events.
The second is West Yorkshire based child bereavement charity Elliot's Footprint, who I represent as a trustee, and this year marks 10 years since the tragic passing of the founding members son Elliot. The charity specialises in supporting families faced with the traumatic events following a Sudden Unexpected Death In Childhood (SUDIC) across Leeds and West Yorkshire.
I intend to split any proceeds I raise 50/50 between both charities and you can click on their icons above to head to their websites if you want to read more about what they do. Any donations you can spare will be a fantastic motivation to me as my legs get increasingly tired on the day, but more importantly, provide much needed help to these worthy causes as they continue the much needed work they do throughout the year.
Thanks in advance!
