Run a marathon - you mad? The living antithesis of 'fun-run' is undertaking the London Marathon having not ran any significant distances since 2001 (Officer Training). Life is about opportunities...
Some how I made it through the ballot and identifying as Northern I didn't want my ~£70 wasted. Whilst this endeavour was pure ego-gratification I would be wasting an opportunity not to tap-up family, friends, colleagues and strangers for a couple of quid for two charities that resonate with me:
MND - Championed by Rugby Legend Rob Burrows in his final years, the charity sponsors research into motor neuron disease, which plaques sports players, mothers, fathers and children.
RAF BF - the Benevolent Fund provides multiple services and support to serving and retired members and their families making a significant contribution to the lives of the RAF family.
My bit - inspired by famous films: 'the loneliness of the long distance runner', 'Rocky' and 'Run Fat Boy Run', since January I have lost 2 st in weight, been sighted plodding around Exeter and Marlow working through couch-to-5km, 7.5 , 10 , 13.1 miles, 15, 18 and 20 milers.
Your bit: Please give what or anything you can afford.
