I'm running the London Marathon for two charities;
Prostate Cancer UK and My Name'5 Doddie Foundation, MND.
The donations will be split 80% to Prostate Cancer UK, and 20% to MND
Prostate Cancer UK:
Prostate Cancer affects 1 in 8 men in the UK. That's someone’s dad, partner, brother, son, grandad, uncle or mate. I'm raising money to help fund lifesaving research and support for men and their families affected by Prostate Cancer.
After a friend was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer I decided to take a PSA test, which resulted in needing further investigation because of the negative results, I had no symptoms at all. I am lucky and I am regularly monitored. I wanted to raise awareness for this important charity. There are many people not showing any of the signs of having Prostate Cancer prior to diagnosis and finding it too late. The PSA test is the step to checking all is fine.
Book your PSA blood test; it's free and might save your life.
My Name'5 Doddie Foundation
Motor Neurone Disease, MND.
I have chosen 'My Name'5 Doddie' Foundation as I am big rugby fan and humbled by the well publicised fight of people like Doddie Weir, Rob Burrows, and Joost van der Westhuizen. My Name'5 Doddie Foundation are committed to the goal of freeing the World of MND.
MND damages and attacks the nerves, meaning that messages being sent from the brain to the muscles no longer work. MND is more wide spread than many people realise and while on this journey I have found recently an Aunty of mine died from MND. I wanted to raise money, helping towards further research for a cure for Motor Neurone Disease.
Once diagnosed,
1/3 of people succumb to MND within a year and more than 1/2 within two years of diagnosis.
Its got to be worth donating just to watch me on the news being over taken by the person in the deep sea diving suit. :-)
Thank you for your donation.
