Ride for Tim

In January 2025, our friend Tim McKenna lost his battle with his mental health and took his life. He was a wonderful man, friend and father, and was an inspiration to many, through his cycling adventures and his openness about his mental health troubles.

In the summer of 2025 we will pay tribute to Tim by riding LEJOG, in the way he loved to ride: relaxed, self-supported, with plenty of great food and good beer.

Tim inspired people the length and breadth of the UK with his cycling journeys, and everyone is welcome to join this ride in his memory.

We will be raising money for three charities: Mind, Sustrans and Flight Free UK. Mental health charity Mind helped Tim on many occasions when he was struggling, so half of what we raise will go to this charity's essential work. Sustrans runs the National Cycle Network, which helped facilitate many of Tim's cycling adventures. Finally, Tim was a regular donor to Flight Free UK, a charity which encourages people to travel without flying. Tim hadn't flown for a few years and wanted to help others see it was possible to have amazing adventures without flying – as he did.
