Michael Payten

Here we go again! Bethanie and Michael are about to get back on their bikes and take on their latest challenge for charity.

After a year off in 2022, the follow up to the NC500, London to Paris and London to Brighton cycle rides (and let's not forgot the horrific 3 peaks 24 hour hiking challenge) is here and it's fairly unique.

We'll be driving out to Luxembourg with our support team (Jo and Chloe) and once there we'll be sleeping over, before waving them goodbye and embarking on a 900 km ride over 7 days (we'll be gone for 7 but we're having a day off to sightsee in Amsterdam, so actually riding for 6) and through 6 different countries.

Starting in the middle of Luxembourg, we'll be cycling into Belgium and following the Vennbahn trail along the Belgium/German border and into Aachen in Germany. Next up is Holland and we'll be riding to Eindhoven and staying overnight before continuing on the next day to Amsterdam. We'll be stopping here for a day to actually try to make this a little like a holiday, before heading along the coast and back into Belgium to rest at Ghent. From there we cycle into our 5th country, France, and board the ferry at Calais. Then the final leg, which is the opposite of the first day of our Paris ride, as we cycle home to Claygate from Dover (really not looking forward to that!)

So there it is. Luxembourg to Claygate. We don't think it's ever been done before. It'll probably never be done again, and it'll be our biggest and longest challenge yet.

We are doing this for two charities this year. As ever, we are supporting Ignite Life which is the charity that Bethanie runs in Bristol. They support young people and help them to overcome adversity, by offering counselling and mentoring to those that need it most. They also have a food bank and offer food support to help alleviate food poverty for those that are finding things difficult in these very hard times. Bethanie is CEO at the charity and works incredibly hard to help others.

We are also supporting Dingley's Promise. Another small and well deserving charity, they support children in the early years with special educational needs and disabilities, to help them achieve their full potential. This is their 40th anniversary and we'd like to help them as much as we can and will be donating 25% of all proceeds.

Both charities work extremely hard and do some truly amazing work. We have friends and family involved in both Ignite Life and Dingley's Promise, so this really does have extra special meaning to the both of us.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and if you can, please help us by donating some money to these fantastic causes.

Michael and Bethanie xx
