Manchester Marathon - Supporting Sands and Abigail's Footsteps
6239
I will be running the Manchester Marathon on 27th April to raise money for Sands (Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Charity) and Abigail's Footsteps on behalf of my great friends Nick and Talitha, who sadly lost their twin baby boys prematurely; Jesse and Indy, from Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome last October.
In the immediate aftermath of the boys birth, Nick and Talitha were able to stay in a room with facilities provided by Sands which allowed them time to spend with their tiny babies and to be together to begin to manage their loss in some comfort and privacy. Since then, they have been able to access counselling provided by the charity Abigail’s footsteps who support those experiencing similar loss, which has been extremely helpful in processing saying goodbye.
A note from Nick and Talitha:
"The loss of our baby boys has been the most painful time we’ve known. We feel fortunate for the support we have received from both charities who have been able to provide some guidance and hope for the future at a time that’s often felt lonely and hopeless. We’d love to raise money for both of these charities to support others in similar situations in the future.
One of the hardest things has been saying goodbye to two precious babies before we had a chance to say hello and a longing to know who they would have been. We are very grateful to Ewan for doing something so positive to help those who helped us and in memory of our babies; Jesse and Indy Mandella."
