As we are coming to terms with the untimely loss of Tony, much loved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, friend, colleague and playing partner, we wanted to honour his life with contributions to two charities that were important to him.
Pancreatic Cancer UK is a charity that was close to Tony's heart. He was particularly inspired by his daughter-in-law, Jemma, whose brave fight against this disease continues. Tony was a prostate cancer survivor who benefited from the latest research during his treatment. He was keen to give back and so was a supporter of Prostate Cancer UK.
Pancreatic Cancer UK go above and beyond for everyone affected by this disease. Right now, half of people with pancreatic cancer die within three months of diagnosis. Families are left with only hope to hold onto. They need more. So, we do more. We bring more breakthroughs through research, more change through campaigning, and more support through our expert nurses. We make more noise because people have gone unheard. We are relentless because the disease is ruthless. We care more because people feel forgotten.
Prostate Cancer UK has a simple ambition - to stop men dying from prostate cancer. Through shifting the science over the next 10 years to focus on radical improvements in diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and support, we will stop prostate cancer being a killer.
