Running in Memory of Lucy and Simba

Lucy was a fabulous daughter and sister who was full of life, a force of nature, and someone who brought joy and fun into the lives of all she met. Tragically she was killed, aged 20, together with our dog Simba in a road traffic accident on the 24th June 2024. Lucy would though have wanted us to get on with our lives, doing things in her memory. Therefore, I (Harry, Lucy’s brother), and our Mum, Nicky, are doing a run in honour of Lucy to make sure she lives on in all of our memories. I am running the Madrid Half-Marathon with some school friends on the 6th April, and Mum is running the Great Birmingham Run (10km) with her friend Lisa on the 4th May.

We will be raising money for three charities. First, money will go to the Zambezi Sunrise Trust to help fund developments at a community school in Zambia, as Lucy had an amazing time volunteering as a teacher out there in 2023. Money raised will also go to Crisis, as this was a charity that Lucy gave money to. Finally, money will go to the Birmingham Dogs Home in memory of Simba. Any donations to help these three wonderful causes are hugely appreciated. Lucy will never be forgotten.

The trust is dedicated to providing ongoing support to our projects through the provision of buildings, books, student needs, teaching materials, uniforms, sports and musical equipment, hygiene products and nutritional support. Our primary focus is on children but our support extends to women’s groups so that they are better able to support themselves and their children.
