A 15 day planned Cycle Challenge of over 500 Miles from Hanoi, North Vietnam to Ho Chi Minh City, South Vietnam.
This has been on my bucket list for a long time and at last it's coming to fruition. I started my training in August 2024 in earnest. I have had a couple of hiccups but all is well and l’m looking forward to the challenge. Not long now. I decided to try to raise some funding for two charities.
I have picked two charities close to my heart. If you choose to make a donation, this will be split 50/50 between the two charities. Just Giving don't make this facility available hence me using this platform instead :) Thank you for your support.
Here are the chosen charities
SLOW : https://slowgroup.co.uk/
The Buddy Bag Foundation : https://buddybagfoundation.co.uk/
.
Slow was originally founded in 2007. In 2015 becoming a registered charity offering Bereaved Parent and Sibling Support within the South East.
This charity was set up by my sister Nic Whitworth and her friend Susie Hanson, two mothers who lost their daughters under separate circumstances.
They discovered that there was a lack of long term talking support for bereaved parents. They set up a coffee and chat group in their homes initially and the charity has moved from strength to strength and now provides small group support sessions in the London Areas both online and face to face. They also run Creative Sibling Workshops providing support to bereaved siblings.
In 2017 SLOW received the Queen's Award for Voluntary Services.
The Buddy Bag Foundation was founded in 2015. A charity helping to make a difference to children entering emergency care.
This charity was set up by my friend Karen Williams OBE who came across a similar support network in Australia and made the decision to set up independently in the UK.
48,000 children require emergency care every year in the UK. The Buddy Bag Foundation provides these children with a Buddy Bag containing essential items to help restore a sense of comfort and love, when they have experienced upset and challenges that have taken them away from their normal home life.
In 2022 , The Buddy Bag Foundation received the Queen's Award for Voluntary Services.
