I will be putting myself through the wringer at HYROX Glasgow on the 14th March 2025 to raise funds for Crohn’s and Colitis UK and the Catherine McEwan foundation.

Firstly, I’m sure you're wondering what is HYROX. - 'HYROX combines both running & functional workout stations, where participants run 1km, followed by 1 functional workout station, repeated eight times.' And for someone who doesn’t like running... there’s an awful lot of running in this lol 😂🥴

This means I will be doing the following: 1km Run, 1000m Ski, 1km Run, 50m Sled push (@102kg), 1km Run, 50m Sled Pull (@78kg), 1km Run, 80m Burpee Broad Jump, 1km Run, 1000m Row, 1km Run, 200m Farmers carries (2x16kg), 1km Run, 100m Sandbag Lunge (10kg), 1km Run, 100 Wall Balls (@4kg)

Secondly, I have chosen both of these charities to support as unfortunately I know all too well the challenges of Inflammatory Bowel Disease following a diagnosis in 2023, I have struggled to get a diagnosis, to finding a medication that works and to deal with all the other symptoms that comes with it. IBD is an autoimmune condition, where your body attacks your digestive tract, colon or both. Crohn’s can affect anywhere from your mouth (with mouth ulcers) until your bottom, where ulcerative colitis is localised to the bowel. But that doesn’t mean the symptoms are purely digestive. Many people struggle every single day with other symptoms like, joint pain, fatigue, skin problems, weaker bones, hair loss & more.

Both Crohn’s and Colitis UK and Catherine McEewan Foundation are here to and remove the stigma, contribute to research, support families and are an invaluable information service to everyone affected. Dec 1-7th was Crohn’s and colitis awareness week and one of the very main talking points of the week was that care across the uk is inadequate and inconsistent, for several reasons and hopefully by raising money YOU can help change this. 💜

For example, £10 could provide patient information packs for 6 people newly diagnosed with Crohn’s or Colitis
