Have you ever tried running 26 miles while listening to Kenny Chesney, Phil Collins, and Jimmy Nail on repeat? No? Neither had we… until now.
Our mate Gaz brought happiness to everyone he met. Like a scruffy, miniature Brian Blessed, he had a big smile, a big heart, and a terrible taste in music. He was one of the best people you could know. But he didn’t realize it. In July last year, he became another victim of the biggest killer of men under 50: suicide.
We can’t bring Gaz back, but we can help his kindness live on.
Scott and Martyn are running the Manchester and London marathons, respectively, to raise money for James’ Place and CALM, charities that save men’s lives. Why a marathon? Gaz wasn’t much of an athlete—his Yorkshire One Peak Challenge (it’s all he managed) would be neither impressive or sponsorship-worthy. However, he admired dedication and resilience in sport (you’d need to as an Everton fan), and given Jeffers’ chocolate knee and Scott’s chocolate belly, we’ll need plenty of both.
To make this even tougher, we’re running to a Gaz-inspired playlist. Yes, 26 miles of Phil Collins, Kenny Chesney, and Jimmy Nail. Please consider that when donating:
