Walk Lands End to John O’ Groats LEJoG
5787
Barry Ince and John McBride are both British Army veterans who served 75 years between them. When starting the challenge Barry will be 70 years old and John will be 65 and as expected both are suffering age and service related injuries/illness. They are going to attempt to walk the end to end trail which is a 1250 mile walk from Land End to John O’ Groats. The walk will be 80% off road and take in the majority of the best trails in the UK including the SW Coastal Path, Exmoor, Offa Dykes Path, Pennine Way, West Highland Way, Great Glen Way and JoG trail. Plan is to leave LE on 23 March 25 and reach JoG around 1 June 25, taking around 65 days. If successful and if physical condition allows, both Barry and John intend to take part in the Cateran Yomp, an arduous, 54 mile walk in 24 hours which takes place in the Cairngorms starting on 8 June 25. We are hoping to raise funds for a number of charities. Cancer Research UK, as we have both been touched by this terrible disease with the loss of many dear friends and family. The Army Benevolent Fund which does great work supporting many of our veterans and their families in times of need. Also we would like to support some local charities that are dear to our hearts. Barry’s chosen charity is the Midlands Air Ambulance, who provide a truly outstanding and valuable service and are always in need of funds. John’s chosen charity is ‘Include Me’, a wonderful and well established charity who provide much needed support to vulnerable adults in the St Andrews area, changing people’s lives through the provision of Citizen Advocacy,This walk will be a mighty challenge and we hope to raise significant funds for our chosen charities, working closely with Givewheel to achieve this. Thank you to everyone in anticipation of your support.
