Cycle4Caroline (C4C) is a charity cycle ride in memory of Caroline March who sadly passed away in March 2024. The objective is to raise money for two charities very close to Caroline's heart: the British Eventing Support Trust and Spinal Research.
Cycle4Caroline will cover over 1,100km across the UK from Scotland to London incorporating all of the top level (4*L and 5*) eventing venues: Blair Castle in Perthshire, Bramham Park in North Yorkshire, Burghley House in Lincolnshire, Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire, and Badminton House in Gloucestershire. In addition, we will visit other historic eventing/equestrian locations: Belsay Castle in Northumberland, Chatsworth House in Derbyshire, and Windsor Castle in Berkshire.
C4C will start at Blair Castle on Wednesday 20th November and finish at The Savoy Hotel in London for the British Eventing Support Trust Ball on Saturday 30th November.
CHARITIES:
The British Eventing Support Trust was established in 2021 and aims to support all competing members of British Eventing who are affected by a physical injury or mental health challenges. The charity also seeks to promote, research, develop and implement initiatives which will help maintain the overall safety and welfare of riders.
Spinal Research was established in 1981 with the goal of funding the scientific research needed to repair and restore the spinal cord after injury. The charity now plays a leadership role in shaping international research strategy for repairing spinal cord injuries by funding and accelerating the most promising lines of research, as well as fostering collaborations between world-renowned scientific institutions.
RIDERS:
Cycle4Caroline riders will include Caroline's brother, Tom March, and sister-in-law Piggy March. Piggy is one of Britain's leading event riders having won Gold medals at World and European Championships and won both Badminton and Burghley.
They are joined by Ian Stark, Chairman of the BE Support Trust and eventing legend, winning Gold medals at Olympic, World and European Championships. Also cycling is Alastair Wilson, Joint-Patron of the BE Support Trust with his wife Nicola. Nicola was European Champion in 2021 before suffering a spinal cord injury in a fall at Badminton in 2022.
We will also be joined by 'special guests' on different legs from both inside and outside the equestrian world - watch this space!
