3 mopeds, 3 peaks
5035
We are 3 current and former serving soldiers in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers who have set ourselves the challenge of restoring 3 classic 50 c.c. mopeds and then riding them from Snowdon, to Scafell and finishing our adventure at Ben Nevis, completing the 3 peaks along the way. Our goal is to try and raise £3000 divided between the 3 charities between October 2024 and October 2025.
Our initial goal was to try and have a bit of an adventure on a tight budget, and so a budget of £750 was set aside (maximum £500 on the bikes and whatever was left to be used for repairs) but we soon realised that this idea was the type of adventure that could be used to inspire others around us to take an interest in our shared passion for engineering and repairing things in interesting and creative ways. As serving and former members of the British Army, we also share a love of being outside and experiencing nature at its finest. Not content with just riding 3 classic mopeds (the oldest being 50 years old, the youngest 33 years old) with top speeds of between 20-25 mph, that where found in varying conditions (the worst being the 50 year old, that was found in a box in the back of a scrapyard in Norfolk), we decided to add an extra challenge of completing the 3 highest peaks in the UK.
