McLH Bristol Office - 3 Peaks Challenge
The National Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the three highest peaks of Scotland, England, and Wales, usually within 24 hours. The total walking distance is 23 miles (37km), with a total ascent of 3064 meters (10,052ft). The driving distance adds up to 462 miles.
20 (4 honorary) members of the McLaughlin & Harvey Bristol office are preparing to take on the 24-hour challenge for charity. They are raising money for several causes that are close to their hearts and the communities where they live.
Heart Heroes
Heart Heroes supports children and families affected by life-limiting and life-threatening heart conditions. Any donations would enable them to offer additional support through their tailored projects, giving heart children access to experiences they would not normally have, and ensuring they live life to the fullest alongside their peers.
The Jessie May Trust
Jessie May is a unique charity that provides specialist nursing care for children diagnosed with a life-limiting condition in their own homes. On a visit, nurses will take over the entire care of the child to allow the family to take a break in whatever way they choose. In 2023/2024 it cost £1.9 million to run Jessie May. Around £1.5 million of that comes from fundraising.
The Grand Appeal
The Grand Appeal, the official Bristol Children's Hospital charity is dedicated to saving the lives of sick children and supporting their families. Bristol Children's Hospital is the centre of excellence and ensures young patients from the South West and South Wales receive the best care, 365 days a year. The Grand Appeal puts Bristol Children's Hospital at its heart. From funding state-of-the-art medical equipment, medical research, music, art, sensory and play therapies to family accommodation.
Alzheimer Scotland
Alzheimer Scotland is Scotland’s national dementia charity. They aim to make sure nobody faces dementia alone. They provide support and information to people with dementia, their carers and families, and campaign for the rights of people with dementia and fund vital dementia research.
