On the 2nd November, I am going to be running the 5km run within the 'Run the Runway 2024' event at Prestwick Airport. Now, those of you who know me well, will know that I haven't run any distance for a few years now and all due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained on the rugby pitch way back in 1984! Running has been a challenge as this injury has never been fully fixed and whilst I can walk and cycle, getting up to any sort of running speed has been difficult!. So, to celebrate my 65th birthday I am going to give this running lark one more chance and as such I have started my training regime so that I will be able to complete the 5km on November 2nd.
I am will be running to raise money for three charities: The Ayrshire Hospice, The Beatson and Doing it for Daniel. Please support me in this challenge! Many thanks!
