Walk a Mile in my Shoes
4168
The Dorset Healthcare NHS team are taking part in a step challenge to raise awareness of neurodiversity. In particular: Autism, Developmental Language Disorder (DLD), ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia and dyspraxia.
We will each be recording our steps and then adding them together as a team. Out goal is to walk the distance of Dorset to Singapore (6800 miles)!
At the end of the challenge all money raised will be split between: National Autistic Society, British Dyslexia Association, Speech and Language UK and ADHD Foundation.

We are Speech and Language UK, and we want every child to face the future with confidence. For at least 1.7 million children in the UK, learning to talk and understand words feels like an impossible hurdle. So we give children and young people the skills they need so they aren't left behind, waiting to be understood.

We've done it! The team has now walked 59.2 million steps, which means we've smashed our target of walking around the world (50 millions steps). Everyone in the team has done so well! Thank you to everyone who has donated already. It would be great to reach our target of raising £500 for neurodiversity charities.
1 likesThe team is really working hard to get to our goal of walking all the way around the world. We have now done 44 million steps and only have 6 million left until we get back to Dorset. We are currently in New York! Thank you to everyone who has donated :)
1 likesThere has been lots of stepping from our team over the weekend and we are now at 28.9 million steps, which means we are somewhere in the Pacific Ocean!! It also means we are over half way! Every single step counts in getting us to our new target of walking all the way around the world. Thank you to everyone who is donating as the money will go to some very worthy charities that help support neurodivergent people and awareness of these different conditions. Happy stepping :)
1 likesWe've had a great day 3&4 and have managed to smash our original goal of getting to Singapore! As a team, we've now walk 16.9 million steps, which has taken us all the way to Indonesia. Our new target it now to walk all the way around the world, which is a staggering 50 million steps!! Let's go team! We've also been sharing some information and watching videos over the past few days about Autism, Developmental Language Disorder, ADHD and Dyspraxia. We hope this has all been beneficial and has increased awareness.
1 likesIt's been an amazing first few days of our step challenge. We have over 400 Dorset Healthcare NHS team members stepping. We've added our steps up over the last 2 days and we've done an amazing 8.3 million steps! That means we've made it all the way to Pakistan. Thank you so much for any donations so far.
