So, I've gone and managed to get myself roped into this event, not bad considering it's only around 7 months since I had my right pelvis/buttock/leg amputated. But I figured it gives me another incentive to go out and wheel! Although it is mainly runners that participate there will be a few of us doing it in wheelchairs, partly to raise some money for the charities (nominated by the organisers), but also to raise awareness of people with disabilities. So, at midnight, I'll be trying to wheel up and down Aberdeen Airport runway (4km) which I have been told on good authority is sadly not going to be the nice smooth tarmac surface I had initially imagined but rather a very rutted and bumpy one (who'd have thought aeroplanes need grip for their tyres!?) Anyway, if you can spare any money for a donation towards AberNecessities (a baby bank that provides disadvantaged families with the essential and basic necessities that no child should go without) and Forget-me-not-club (a small charity that provides support to those with dementia and their carers).
Thank you very much in advance. 👩🦽🛬
