Dan Serfontein - Aconcagua climb (6,961m)
I'm excited to announce in January 2023, I will be attempting to summit Aconcagua. The highest mountain outside Asia, at 6,961 meters (22,838 feet), and by extension the highest point in both the Western Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere.
I will be raising money for two incredible charities which are very close to me, Marie Curie & Motor Neurone Disease Association.
Marie Curie provides care and support for people with terminal illnesses and their families. Last year they cared for over 40,000 people across the UK. Marie Curie can make a huge difference to someone who's reaching the end of their life. It's only down to the generosity of donations that they are able to do this vital work. Your support will have an immeasurable impact on the lives of people affected by terminal illness, death and bereavement across the UK.
MND is a rare and terminal illness that causes loss of nerve cells leading to gradual wasting of muscles, paralysis and eventually death, typically within just a few years. There is currently no cure and no real treatment. Across the world, research has been making great strides in identifying the different causal pathways and potential treatments but so much more is needed to translate research into effective therapies in time for those suffering to benefit. The MND Association is leading the way in clinical research and provides the essential care required to those individuals & families affected.
