Morgan King Mountain Month
Morgan King Mountain Month
Our very own Sam Sykes is taking on the ultimate physical and mental challenge of climbing five mountains over the space of five weeks in June to support three amazing charities.
EPILEPSY ACTION:
Epilepsy Action have 3 main goals they want to achieve by 2030: For all people with epilepsy in the UK to say their lives have improved through the things they achieve together; For Everyone to know what epilepsy is, and how to support people living with epilepsy; To be fully inclusive in who they are and also who they support. Find out more about Epilepsy Action on their website: https://www.epilepsy.org.uk/
ALZHEIMERS SOCIETY:
Sam's very close family member is sadly suffering with Alzheimer's. What is the difference between Dementia and Alzheimer's? Dementia is a condition where problems with memory or other types of thinking make it hard for a person to do everyday activities by themselves. It can be caused by several different diseases that affect the brain. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common cause of dementia. The statistics surrounding Alzheimer's/Dementia are devastating. 1 in 3 people born in the UK today will be diagnosed with Alzheimer's/Dementia in their lifetime. 1.6 million people are expected to be living with Alzheimer's/Dementia in 2040. It is the UK's biggest health and social care crisis. Their vision? A world where Alzheimer's/Dementia no longer devastates lives. Read more about their goals here: https://www.alzheimers.org.uk/
THE LIGHTHOUSE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY CHARITY:
"The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity is the only charity that provides emotional, physical and financial wellbeing support to the construction community and their families. A crucial element of our strategy is to provide a wide range of free and widely available pro-active resources to support the industry."
Sadly, suicide within the construction industry is at its highest. Since Covid-19 there has been a rise in the amount of construction workers taking their lives. The Lighthouse club offers support to workers and families affected. They run a 24/7 helpline, HARDHAT Support Service for those who find it difficult to find a place and time to talk, live chat and many other services. Find out more about their work here: https://www.lighthouseclub.org/
Any donations whether small or large are greatly appreciated. All donations will be split equally across all three charities. Please follow their journey on the Morgan King LinkedIn page.
